A BOROUGH'S young people have been offered a wide programme of sports, fitness and craft events and to beat holiday boredom.

Ribble Valley Borough Council this week published its 16-page 2019 'Summer Activities' booklet.

Produced in association with Clitheroe's Roefield Leisure Centre, it features dozens of activities at venues throughout the borough, including archery, basketball, caving, canoeing, climbing, football, grass sledging, orienteering, tennis, raft-building, snorkelling and swimming.

Roefield Leisure Centre will host a Festival of Fitness and, as well as accepting childcare vouchers, is offering a range of discounts on presentation of the booklet.

Ribblesdale Pool next door will host £1 swimming sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 4 and 6pm.

Clitheroe Castle will host arts and craft sessions with a ‘knights and princesses’ theme in July and ‘pirates’ theme in August.

Ribble Valley Council’s sports development officer, Peter Fletcher, said: “This summer has been a phenomenal one for sport, with World Cup cricket, netball and women’s football, and the Rugby World Cup still to come.

“This year's activities booklet features a bumper crop of things for young people to do. There’s no need for boredom in Ribble Valley during the summer holidays."
