A WOMAN had her handbag snatched in a daylight street robbery.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the robbery which happened in Colne at 8.45am yesterday.

Police said the 46-year-old victim was walking along Keighley Road close to the junction with Clarence Street when she was approached from behind and had her handbag pulled from her shoulder.

The suspect, who is described as a well-built Asian man in his 40s, who was wearing a white t-shirt and jogging bottoms, then pushed her to the ground and ran off down Clarence Street.

Det Cons James Jankovski said: “Luckily the woman wasn’t hurt during this incident but it has understandably left her shaken up. We’d ask that anyone who saw anything suspicious gets in touch. This is a busy road and we think there will have been a large number of people travelling along this road on their daily commute.”

Two men, aged 42 and 33, from Nelson, arrested on suspicion of robbery have both been released under investigation pending further enquires.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting log 329 of July 23.
