For the fifth year running, outdoor Tai Chi sessions are being held this summer.

The free sessions, which will be held in Nelson, will be hosted by instructors Helena Kean and David Pelling from Lighthouse Tai Chi and are open to all ages and abilities.

The opening ceremony on July 30, will be attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle, Councilor Ken Hartley and Ms Jayne Mills, and will include a traditional Tai Chi blessing from two Chinese lions.

Mrs Kean said: "Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us and try Tai Chi, from complete beginners wanting to give it a go, to people with any level of experience who'd like the opportunity to do their session in the lovely surroundings of the park.

"Last year over 140 people attended the opening event and we have plenty of room for more."

The sessons will be held from 1.30pm to 2.30pm on four consecutive Tuesdays (6, 13, and 20 August) on the old bowling green behind the Pavilion Café in Victoria Park.

There is free parking on site and the café will be open serving refreshments.

Children are welcome with a participating, responsible adult.

People can register either on the day or in advance by calling 01282 661226.

The free events are supported by Marsden Building Society, Pendle Borough Council, Pendle Leisure Trust, Questant Camargue Ltd, Pendle’s Up & Active Project and the ACE Centre in Nelson.

Lighthouse Tai Chi delivers weekly classes across East Lancashire, including sessions at Pendle Leisure Trust’s facilities.
