An organisation that works to protect horses and ponies is having an open day to celebrate their new Activity Room.

HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association) will be opening their doors at their Shores Hey Farm base on Monday July 22, and are inviting younger visitors to come along and meet some of the horses.

HAPPA’s very own cheeky mascot, Tommy Trotter, will be taking the reigns and cutting the ribbon at 12pm.

Following the open day, the room will be open 11am until 4pm on weekdays, for play including life like ponies Katie Canter and Gilbert Gallop, colouring and more.

At weekends it will be available for private hire for children’s birthday parties, including Build a Bear Parties.

Education and Events Co-ordinator, Maria Hurley, said: "Our children’s birthday parties and activities continue to grow year and year and we recognised the need to have a room dedicated to hold these events.

"Following the move of the gift and tack shop to a larger space on site we had a spare room to utilise and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

"The team at HAPPA have decorated the room and made improvements to make it a real-child friendly space.

"We have also had one wall painted to look like the stable yard with HAPPA ponies.

"We look forward to welcoming everyone on Monday to see the finished room."

The open day will take place at Shores Hey Farm, Black House Lane, Briercliffe, Burnley.
