A woman whose mother died from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) has helped to raise a whopping £1770 for the East Lancashire Hospice.

Donna Campbell, 48, brought together friends and family to raise the funds for the hospice, which provided care for her mother.

Mrs Campbell's mum, Monica Greenwood died last year from COPD, which is a disease that heavily impacts the lungs.

Mrs Campbell, who lives in Blackburn said: "The hospice were fantastic when they cared for my mum.

"Not only did they provide a home carer team so mum could stay at home, they also provided great emotional support for our whole family during a hard time."

Together, Mrs Campbell and her family ran a disco night which included a tombola and raffle.

To help raise the money, they charged £5 a ticket for those who wanted to attend.

She also approached Together Housing Group, with whom she is a resident, for a donation of a prize for the raffle.

Instead though, Together Housing donated £100 to the hospice.

This is not the first time Mrs Campbell has raised money for the hospice, as just after her mother died she asked friends and family to make donations rather than buy flowers.

This managed to raise £1300 which brings the total amount she has donated to the hospice so far to £3070.

She said: "I think my mum would have been chuffed with the donations.

"This hospice helped her a lot and she would be over the moon to know people are helping to keep it open so others can access the same care she had."
