Several homes in the Ribble Valley were left without water this morning.

United Utilities reported that they were investigating a problem in the BB7 postcode area, which meant some households had no water, or their water was coming out of the tap as a trickle.

The problem was first reported at 10.54am on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for United Utilities said: "We’re currently investigating an issue in your area which may mean you have no water or it’s coming out your tap as a trickle.

"The problem seems to be affecting Slaidburn Village residents and we have had several calls about the issue this morning.

"We think it may be to do with a power shortage at a local pumping station and an engineer has been sent out to try and fix the problem.

"We’re sorry for the inconvenience and hope to have your taps flowing again very soon.

"We’ll provide further updates in due course."

At around 2pm on Wednesday United Utilities said the problem had been rectified and all affected households should have full running water.

The spokesperson added: "Water should now be back on and the problem has been fixed."
