A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash with a car.
The incident happened in Accrington Road, Whalley, at around 7.30am.
Police attended the scene and have closed Whalley Road from Accrington Road to Great Harwood Golf Club.
The male cyclist, in his 50s, has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital with facial injuries and a suspected hip injury.
Traffic has been affected by the road closure, with congestion heading through Simonstone as motorists try to find alternative routes.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to a crash involving a cyclist and car.
"A male cyclist suffered facial and hip injuries and has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital."
An ambulance service spokesman said: "We sent an ambulance and rapid response vehicle to the scene.
"A man in his 50s was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries."
