A POLICE officer who responded to a report of a woman stripping off outside a taxi office ended up being assaulted by her.

Blackburn magistrates heard Eden Barnes had stripped to her bra and trousers when the officer arrived and was clearly drunk.

Barnes, 20, of Wellington Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and assaulting a police officer. She was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 30 hours attendance centre condition and 60 hours unpaid work. She was ordered to pay the police officer £100 compensation.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said policed were called at 3.30am to a report of a female behaving aggressively and removing her clothes outside a taxi office in Cardwell Place.

When the officer went to arrest her he struggled to get hold of her because it was raining and her upper body was wet.

Barnes was eventually placed in the back of a police van and taken to Greenbank police station.

"When the officer opened the back doors she was lying on her back and kicked out making contact with the officers head," said Mr Robinson.

The court was told Barnes didn't drink often but when she did it was to excess.
