AT least 200 trains were delayed and several were cancelled as police were called to an incident on the railway lines in Leyland.
British Transport Police officers were called to railway lines in the town on Saturday night.
A transport police spokesman said officers were initially given reports of a man suffering with mental health issues.
The spokesman said: "The man was assessed by specialist medical staff and released.
"He was then arrested on suspicion of railway obstruction and after investigation he was charged and kept in for court this morning (Monday).
"During the incident on Saturday night 200 trains were delayed for a total of 4,871 minutes, that's more than 81 hours.
"16 trains were also cancelled and another 30 were part-cancelled."
