A BOY has become the youngest person to walk up the three highest peaks in the UK — all in memory of his best friend.

Three-year-old Jaxon Krzysik climbed Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in Cumbria and Ben Nevis in Scotland with his father, Cal Krzysik.

The duo climbed more than 10,000ft collectively in memory of Jaxon’s friend, Ralph Rowlands, who died after suffering with brain damage.

Mr Krzysik, from Burnley, said his adventurous son managed to climb up all the mountains unaided, but had a bit of help on the way down due to bad weather and tired legs.

Mr Krzysik, 29, said the pair climbed Scafell Pike first and then decided to tackle the other two big peaks.

He said: “He wanted to raise money in memory of his best friend, Ralph. They met while at nursery and all Jaxon did was talk about him.

“Ralph suffered with brain damage and couldn’t walk or talk, but the pair had a connection with each other.

“Ralph sadly died when he was two years old and it was difficult to explain to Jaxon where he had gone. We told him Ralph was in the sky, so when Jaxon looks into the sky he always tells me Ralph is there.”

The pair completed each peak in roughly six to seven hours.

Ben Nevis is the UK’s highest mountain, at 4,412 feet, Scafell Pike measures 3,208 feet and Snowdon measures 3,559 feet.

Jaxon, who goes to Giant Leap Childcare and Learning Centre, has raised more than £1,100 for Cerebra, a charity which supported Ralph and his family.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Mr Krzysik said: "I found out the youngest person to climb the three mountains was six, I thought we can easily half that.

"Jaxon loves rocks and mountains.

"I'm really pleased he wants to get out there and explore.

"A lot of children his age would just be sat indoors on their games but he wants to go out.

"We've been up the three Yorkshire peaks and climbed Pendle Hill a couple of times.

"We are currently looking at mountain trips for the future.

"We're thinking about south Wales or back to Scotland for our next outing.

"My aim long term is to take him on all my mountain trips."
