A MAN suffered head injuries as he was attacked by a gang wielding a cricket bat.
The 21-year-old victim was walking through a ginnel close to St Barnabas and St Paul's Primary School in Blackburn when he was attacked on Thursday, July 4, at 8.30pm.
The man saw the men on the school grounds and carried on walking before he was hit on the head with the bat, knocking him to the ground.
Police said the attackers took the man's keys, cigarettes and £150 before leaving him at the scene.
The victim was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.
Police said the attackers are described as Asian men, and the weapon was described as a CA-branded cricket bat with brown stickers on the front.
Det Con Nicholas Barker said: “An investigation is underway after a man was robbed in Blackburn.
“We believe the victim was attacked with a CA-branded cricket bat by a group of men in a ginnel close to St Barnabas Primary School.
“We are keen to identify the attackers and would urge anyone with information to come forward.
“Did you see the group described in the school grounds? Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the area? If so please come forward.”
