CHILDREN from St Francis CE Primary School in Blackburn attended a special bed time themed story time at the library.

The event was part of the Booktrust charity’s national Pyjamarama campaign to encourage the sharing of bedtime stories with children.

Wordsworth, the library’s mascot, was there to meet and greet them in his new nightshirt and nightcap, made for him by volunteer Margaret Hanson.

When it became apparent that buying nightclothes would be too expensive, Margaret came to the rescue and made the suit herself, so the library took the opportunity to present her with flowers and a card to say a big ‘thank you’.

Margaret is at the library on Friday afternoons, helping to run a ‘knit and natter’ group which has now branched out into all sorts of other crafts too.

Anyone interested in joining the group can visit Cherry Tree Library on Friday between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
