THIS is the shocking moment a bus smashed into parked cars after clipping a cyclist.

Footage captured on a CCTV camera shows the yellow Transdev bus rounding the corner of Parliament Street in Darwen before clipping a cyclist.

The driver then appears to swerve and veers into a row of parked cars.

A spokesman from the ambulance service confirmed they were called to a collision between a bus and a cyclist at around 4.40pm on Friday. And while they did take a man in his 50s to hospital, no serious injuries were recorded.

Lancashire Telegraph:

After watching the footage, councillor Roy Davies said it was a ‘miracle’ nobody was seriously hurt in the accident.

He said: “Many people, myself included, walk along the street where the bus crashed. It’s horrendous to see what happened but it’s a miracle there were no serious injuries.

“It now needs to be established how this happened.”

A Mercedes and Ford Focus were badly damaged.

A spokesman from the Blackburn Bus Company also said they were investigating how the crash happened.

They said: “There was an accident involving one of our bus es in Darwen town centre on Friday afternoon.

“Safety is our absolute priority, and we are currently working to establish the circumstances behind the incident.”
