A DISQUALIFIED driver got behind the wheel to take his partner for a nail appointment.
Blackburn magistrates heard, when he was stopped by police, Daniel Thomas Collinson said: “I’m so stupid.”
Collinson, 33, of Kirby Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance. He was fined £600 with £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge and disqualified for 17 months, which will add six months to his current ban.
Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said at 2.10pm officers were dealing with another incident when they received information about a possible disqualified driver.
Gareth Price, defending, said his client had been going through a difficult time having been unable to work after being assaulted.
“He was off work for six weeks and that put a strain on his relationship because he wasn’t contributing to the household,” said Mr Price.
“On this day she was going for a nail appointment and asked him to drive her. He said no but she kept asking and eventually he said yes because be thought it would be easier than having another row.”
