A SHORT break service has been rated as good by the Care Quality Commission.

Watchdogs praised Ribble Valley Short Break Service for the caring attitude of its staff following a recent inspection.

The county-council run short break service, based on Croasdale Drive, Clitheroe, provides support for adults with a learning disability or autism.

County councillor Graham Gooch, cabinet member for adult services, said: "It's great that Ribble Valley Short Break Service has been rated as 'good' by the CQC.

"The staff are doing a superb job and this rating shows that all their hard work is paying off.

"Staff are very supportive and caring. They utilise the excellent facilities and technology to ensure people are safe and are supported to be as independent as possible during their stay.

"Services like this are a vital part of the care system as they provide essential support for people while giving carers a break from their caring role," he added.

The service gives families and carers the opportunity to have a break from their caring role.

It can accommodate up to six adults at a time. The length of time people use the service varies from single overnight stays to more extended breaks.
