POLICE are re-appealing for information about an arson attack in Burnley.

Officers were called to reports of a fire in Parkinson Street on Thursday, May 2, at 2.50am.

A 25-year-old man had been asleep on a sofa in the ground floor of the house when he heard the smoke alarm.

Police said the front door of the home had been set on fire with those responsible running away from the scene.

The man suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Six fire engines attended the scene with the fire quickly extinguished.

The fire has gutted the house it started in and destroyed the roofs of both properties either side.

Following investigation it is believed flammable liquid was poured on the front door of the house before being ignited.
