DETECTIVES investigating an incident in which staff and a customer were sprayed in the face with an unknown liquid during a robbery at an Accrington post office have made an arrest.

A 47-year-old man from Bolton was arrested on suspicion of robbery earlier this month but has now been . bailed pending further enquiries, police have confirmed.

Police were called to the post office in Abbey Street at 5.30pm on May 10 following reports that a man had thrown a liquid at the three members of staff and bystander during the robbery.

Officers said a man demanded staff opened the safe, before leaving the building with cash.

He left the scene on a bicycle.

All four victims were taken to hospital but their injuries were not serious.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses.
