This is a wonderful image of a Sunday procession taking place in Accrington, 1953.
This was the year the town elected its first female mayor, Grace Rothwell, who six years earlier became the first woman to be elected onto Accrington Town Council.
The appointment also coincided with Queen Elizabeth's coronation.
