A MAN who submitted false insurance claims for Rolexes which he claimed had been lost has pleaded guilty to a number of fraud charges.

Appearing in the dock at Burnley Crown Court, Philip Read pleaded guilty to five separate charges of fraud on the day his sentence was due to start.

The first charge relates to a fraudulent claim made to Royal Sun Alliance in May 2011 that a lady's Rolex watch had been lost.

The second relates to a fraudulent claim made to Liverpool Victoria in August 2011 that a lady's Rolex watch had been lost.

The third relates to a fraudulent claim made in November 2011 that a men's Rolex watch had been lost.

The fourth relates to a fraudulent claim made in November 2011 that vehicle Read owned had been in a road traffic accident.

The final charge relates to a fraudulent claim made to Aviva in May 2013 that a Cartier diamond ring had been lost.

Read, 51, of Kirstin Court, Eccleston, was remanded on bail until sentencing in August.

Judge Nicholas Barker said: "Philip Read you have now pleaded guilty to these five counts. They are each serious offences. I have in mind a custodial sentence.

"That is a matter I'm going to think upon now. There will be a pre-sentence report.

"The case is adjourned to August 1 at Preston Crown Court. You will remain on the same bail conditions you have now."
