OVER 200 pupils from Saint Wilfrid's High School in Blackburn took part in a national sponsored fast to raise money in 1987.
The students kept the fast over the weekend to fundraise for the charity, Population Concern for their famine relief work in 16 countries on three continents.
The schools which took part were hoping to beat the previous year's total of £60,000. Population concern is a campaign issue continued today to do with protecting communities around the world against famine and other related disasters that may have been cause by a large population.
The students wanted to support the cause.
