A spokesman for the service said two people were taken to hospital.
EMERGENCY services were called out in the middle of night to rescue a person who had fallen into water.
Firefighters and paramedics attended Bacup Road at 1.18am to perform the rescue.
Two fire engines, a boat and an aerial ladder platform were at the scene.
Firefighters were at the scene for 35 minutes.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two fire engines from Rawtenstall and Preston, a boat from Preston and the aerial ladder platform from Hyndburn were called to rescue a person in water just off Bacup Road, Rawtenstall.
"Firefighters were at the scene for 35 minutes and managed to rescue the person who was later treated by paramedics."
