Anthony Whitehead lied on his tax returns to ensure that he paid almost no VAT
AN engineering boss from East Lancashire has been disqualified as a director for three years after falling foul of the taxman.
Brian Makinson had an unpaid VAT bill of £184,975 when R&B Civils went under in June 2017.
An inquiry found that while the company was registered for VAT, when it was incorporated in 2014, it failed to submit any returns.
An Insolvency Service investigation found that Makinson, of Preston Road, Longridge, also failed to submit Construction Industry Scheme returns for two years.
HM Revenue and Customs says £112,619 was owed for 2015/16 and £117,695 for the following year.
