MOTORISTS planning to use the Grane Road between Blackburn and Haslingden will have to rethink their route from the middle of this week.
A section of the busy East Lancashire road will be closed as Lancashire County Council deal with maintenance work along the carriageway.
According to the council's website, a partial closure will be in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm from Wednesday 12 for six days until Tuesday 18 June.
Drivers wishing to travel past the Grey Mare Inn on Elton Road, Belthorn, towards the junction of Holcombe road between the stated times will have to find an alternative route.
The road on either side of the closed section will be operating as usual.
A council spokesman said: "The Grane Road in Haslingden will be closed for cyclic maintenance works from Wednesday."
Signs warning motorists of the closure can be seen along the road.
The stretch of road is a key commuter route in East Lancashire, used by thousands of motorists a day. It is currently unknown what the maintenance will consist of.
