An pensioner had a lucky escape as he managed to jump free from his car before it set on fire.
George Rogerson from Great Harwood, had been driving his Mini in Accrington in 1979, before it was involved in a crash with two vans, which had been caused by two stray dogs.
Mr Rogerson got out of his car but minutes later it burst into flames.
He was taken to Blackburn Infirmary suffering from chest injuries.
The drivers of the two vans were not hurt.
