EAST Lancashire Elizabethan stately home Gawthorpe Hall will the setting for a Tudor comedy on Saturday (JUNe 8).
I will provide an appropriate backdrop for an outdoor production of 'Twits, Wits and Bawdy Baskets' by Doodlebugs Productions.
A cast of seven actors will perform the show at 6.30pm.
Set in Tudor times and tells the story of a hapless band of Elizabethan rogues who decide to make money by pretending to be a company of strolling players. They arrive at Padiham's Gawthorpe Hall, and a fast-paced farce follows.
Cllr Peter Buckley, Lancashire County Council's culture boss, said: ""The performance is a Tudor comedy about gender, identity and the north/south divide. No one is who they seem to be in this very farcical and funny comedy, which has a nod to Shakespeare.
"This promises to be a fantastic show set in the wonderful historic backdrop of Gawthorpe Hall."
Tickets for the performance cost £11 in advance only.
