As with all of our ‘Five of the best’ features, the list is not meant to be definitive but merely a selection of what’s available based upon your recommendations.

Lee's Cantonese, Darwen

This award-winning takeaway which prides itself on providing restaurant food at takeaway prices has clearly made a good impression on readers with the largest number of recommendations. A family-run business for over 16 years, Lee’s (as the full name of the establishment implies) specialises in Cantonese dishes although it offers a wide range of Chinese dishes plus fish and chips. Portion sizes are deemed worthy of comment and the friendly levels of service are consistently mentioned by regulars.

Man Lee, Darwen

This long-established - and popular - restaurant also offers a takeaway service which a number of readers highly recommended. There is a telephone ordering service which allows you to ring ahead. There is a good selection of vegetarian and gluten free options on the menu.

Kwong Ming, Accrington

Located in one of the main takeaway areas of Accrington along Blackburn Road, Kwong Ming has proved to be a major favourite with readers. The levels of service garner as much praise as the range of dishes on the menu with comments ranging from ‘amazing food’ to ‘the best Chinese in Accrington’. Long-established in the area, regulars travel from far and wide.

Wokstar, Blackburn

The semi-open kitchen allows you to watch the chefs at work in this perennially busy establishment across the road from Ewood Park. Particularly popular are the all-in-one boxes with over 20 dishes available with fried rice. The amount of choice is one of the takeaway’s most popular features with Cantonese dishes a speciality.

Kong San, Clitheroe

This Cantonese restaurant also does a thriving business in takeaway meals. There are separate restaurant and takeaway menus and regulars are quick to highlight that the quality of dishes don’t vary whether you are sitting down for a meal or taking it home. The quality of ingredients and speedy service also come in for praise although it can get very busy. Dishes can be ordered with fried rice, noodles or chips in addition to boiled rice.
