HEALTH bosses are to meet with Darwen East's Cllr Roy Davies over recycling mobility aids.
The Liberal Democrat is calling on them to end the practice of hospitals and GPs surgeries refusing to accept returned items such as crutches, walking frames and wheelchairs.
Earlier this month Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group told him: "The issue of recycling equipment has been an area we have been actively trying to improve.
"Unfortunately, for the majority of smaller items of equipment, the costs of recovering, checking, repairing and sterilising equipment makes it uneconomical to achieve this. Simply donating used equipment to other people would introduce an element of risk."
Cllr Davies told the CCG the public were very unhappy at seeing usable items not reissued to patients.
Now he has been offered a meeting on the issue with senior officials at the CCG and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
