A WOMAN who was given two chances by magistrates ran out of luck third time round.
Blackburn magistrates heard persistent shoplifter Mary Ellen Haworth was given a suspended sentence in August but breached it in April when she was sentenced for seven more offences.
The magistrates did not activate the sentence but extended the operational period.
But she was jailed for 28 weeks when she was back before the court for another five shoplifting offences.
Haworth, 47, of Hollingreave Road, Burnley, pleaded guilty to all the latest offences which involved stealing spirits from Tesco in Burnley.
Mark Williams, defending, said Haworth stole alcohol which she then sold to buy drugs.
