THE problem retractable traffic bollards at either end of Church Street, Blackburn, have broken down again.
They failed several times in 2017 and several weeks ago they stopped working along with another set on Fleming Square.
Yesterday council bosses promised to have the four sets of bollards back in operation next month.
Malcolm Marsden, owner of Whittakers Butchers in Blackburn Market, said: “This is dangerous. Church Street is a rat run without them.
“Modern vehicles are very quiet and a pensioner might not hear them and get hurt. They need to get them working for the long-term.”
A Blackburn with Darwen Council spokeswoman said: “We are aware of the issue. Repairs are scheduled in mid to late June.”
