A SLEEP-out on top of East Lancashire's highest summit has been planned - to highlight the plight of young homeless people.
One hundred hardy souls will be bedding down 557 metres above sea level as part of the fledgling Survival on the Summit on June 29.
Safespace, which runs supported accommodation for at-risk 16 to 21-year-olds in Pendle and Rossendale, has teamed up with Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue for the gathering.
Lord Clitheroe has given special permission for organisers to undertake the fundraiser, which is also being supported by Barnoldswick-based Silentnight.
Claire Bennett, charity manager, said: " Never before have people had the opportunity to sleep out on top of our most iconic landmark, so we hope lots of people will get involved."
Peter Goble, mountain rescue team leader, added: "This isn’t an event for the faint-hearted.
"While this is a summer evening, it's rarely baking hot on the top of Pendle."
