A MAN whose car was hit from behind as he approached a roundabout was arrested by police after failing a breathalyser.
Blackburn magistrates heard Krzystof Jacek Nowosielski admitted he had been drinking at a social gathering but did not think he would be over the limit.
Nowosielski, 43, of Mayfield Avenue, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol on Whalley Road, Langho.
He was fined £120 with £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge and disqualified for 12 months after the magistrates heard he gave a reading of 51 against the legal limit of 35.
Aftab Bakhat, defending, said the inevitable disqualification would mean his client would lose his job in production line maintenance which required him to be on 24 hour call.
He said it would also cause difficulties with his four-year-old son who had a dairy and nut allergy and on occasion had to be rushed to hospital.
"He knows he won't be able to do that and there is only him t blame," said Mr Bakhat.
