A NINE-year-old boy’s call to fit a skate park at an area of green space in Tyldesley has taken a step forward.
Back in March, St George’s Central CE Primary School pupil Joshua Wallwork wrote a letter to MP Jo Platt up about having such a facility built on the park on Union Street.
Wigan Council’s director of children’s services James Winterbottom has now met with Joshua and his head teacher Mark Grogan at the park to discuss the idea.

Joshua would like to have the facility installed near to a small gated area of the park near to the trees.
His mum Stacey said: “I am extremely proud of Joshua.
“He was nervous before the meeting but after it finished he was happy with how it went.
“It would be a great thing if the idea comes off and everything seems positive so far.”
As well as his mum, Joshua lives with his dad Stephen and older brother Aaron.
Mr Grogan said: ‘It was great for Joshua to share his vision for his local park with Mr Winterbottom.
"Joshua is currently compiling a list of friends from others schools who are going to join him on a ‘working party’ group to meet with Mr Winterbottom again before the end of the school year in order to move this project on to the next stage."
