One lane is closed eastbound on the M65 between junctions eight and 10.
A THREE-car crash has been causing significant tailbacks on the M65.
Highways officials say the vehicles crashed on the eastbound carriageway between junctions eight and nine.
Two lanes were closed while the cars were recovered by the emergency services.
A Highways England said there was around three-and-a-half miles of congestion.
Motorists had been advised it could up to 40 minutes to their journeys home.
