A DOG was rescued from underneath a car after running into the road.

Accrington Fire Service were called to an incident at 10.20pm on Monday on Manchester Road in Accrington, after reports of a dog being hit by a car.

The dog was trapped underneath the car, and was released after an hour. It was not thought to be seriously injured but had suffered grazing.

The fire service believe the dog ran out into the road and the oncoming car could not stop in time.

The owner was advised to take it to the vet.
