A CHARITY garden centre was broken into and equipment has been stolen.

Police were called to the Garden Project in Fleet Street, Nelson, on Monday.

Officers, who only released the information today, said the offenders broke in through a fence, using wire cutters, and stole equipment.

A police spokesman said: "This is a community, charity run garden centre and it has been targeted by thieves in the past at great cost, in the thousands, to the project.

"I would like to ask if anyone has seen anything suspicious, can you please email us on 7142@lancashire.pnn.police.uk or 7577@lancashire.pnn.police.uk."
