EAST Lancashire's historic Gawthorpe Hall has revealed its summer programme of events.

The Elizabethan mansion in Padiham will host a new comedy from Doodlebugs Productions called 'Twits, Wits and Bawdy Baskets' at 6.30pm on Saturday June 8.

On Saturday June 22 it will host an event for National Stitch Day between 1pm and 4pm with members of the local Embroiderers Guild,.

The Silver School of Arms will be at the hall on Sunday June 23 from 1pm to 4pm with historic weapons and armour, and stunning sword fighting displays.

At noon on Saturday June 29, it will host Padiham on Parade.

Thursday July 4 at 7pm sees a History Wardrobe presentation of 'All Writers Great and Small ' celebrating Northern authors.

Gawthorpe will host a Discovering Quilting even on Friday July 26 between 1pm and 4pm .

On Saturday July 27 at 6.30pm there will be an outdoor protection of William Shakespeare's famous comedy 'Midsummer Night's Dream ' by the Off The Ground Theatre company.

Thursday August 8 sees Discovering Lace at 1pm
