BUDDING film-makers at a Burnley primary school can start the camera rolling thanks to an energy recycling scheme.

Hapton School in Manchester Road won a camcorder by collecting old batteries in a competition run by Lancashire County Council, to divert heavy metals from landfill.

Pupils also recycle paper and ink cartridges, and collect fruit and vegetable peelings from the school kitchens and pupils' lunchboxes to add to their compost bin on the school's allotment on a neighbouring site.
