HASLINGDEN has been named as one of the cheapest places to buy fuel in the UK.
Analysing prices from across the UK over the last month, PetrolPrices has revealed the cheapest 20 towns and cities to buy petrol and diesel.
The average price of petrol in Haslingden is £1.21 - the sixth cheapest place in the country.
Meanwhile, Leyland is the second cheapest place in the UK to buy petrol with the average price at £1.20.
It is also one of the cheapest places to buy diesel - at £1.29.
The news comes as RAC research reveals that nationally petrol prices increased by 5p a litre last month.
This is the second highest price rise since 2000 with May 2018 being the highest.
It comes as retailers pass on wholesale price increases to customers after the cost of oil increased by more than $3 a barrel
The increase is expected to add around £3 to the cost of filling up an average family car.
Kitty Bates, of PetrolPrices.com, said: “Fuel prices can vary massively across the country; it can vary up to 30ppl between the cheapest station and the most expensive motorway station, so checking for the cheapest or best value station near you, enroute or at your destination can save you money.
"We have calculated that our members saved around £200 a year by comparing petrol stations near them with many surprised to discover nearby petrol stations they never even knew existed.”
