A COMPLEX for the over-50s in Darwen has been singled out for its build quality.
Energy specialist Engie, with Together Housing and Blackburn with Darwen Council, is celebrating after Riverside Heights was named 'best social or affordable new housing development' in the LABC's North West Building Excellence Awards.
The £12million building, in Shorey Way, boasts 85 apartments, offering care and support.
Rob Ashcroft, Engie's operations manager, said: "This is a stand-out example of top-quality specialised housing with care for the elderly."
Sue Lewis, from Together, added: "With an ageing population and increasing pressure on health and social care services, housing with care schemes like Riverside Heights are hugely important."
