AN opportunity has arisen for budding young musicians to perform at a music festival in the summer.

The Boo Theatre in Waterfoot, Rossendale, are launching their first Young Musicians Award. It offers young, local musicians the opportunity to perform on the main stage at the Waterfoot Wakes Festival, on Saturday July 6.

Open to artists of any genre up to the age of 25, selected finalists will be judged by an expert panel and receive constructive feedback before they decide who is the winner of the Young Musicians Award 2019.

The winning finalist will be given a 30-minute slot on the Waterfoot Wakes main stage, featuring on the bill alongside Cacophany Arkestra, Eve O’Riordan, Sarah Yaseen and Dr Butler’s Hatstand Medicine Band.

The Young Musicians Award competition will take place at The Boo Theatre on Sunday June 2.

In its second year on the weekend of July 5-7, 2019, the three-day multi-arts and community festival will feature family theatre, puppetry, music, comedy, craft and a parade through Waterfoot.

To apply for the Young Musicians Award, eligible musicians need to complete a short application form, detailing their musical journey so far and provide a link to their music. Application forms can be downloaded from www.horseandbamboo.org/youngmusician
