A POLICE patrol was flagged down by a member of the public who reported a drunken woman lying in the road.

Blackburn magistrates heard when officers approached Hannah Kasim on Larkhill she immediately became aggressive and abusive.

Kasim, 30, of Johnston Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and was made subject to a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said the offence had been committed just a week after Kasim was given a conditional discharge for a similar offence.

Duncan Nightingale, defending, said since the commission of both offences mentioned by the prosecution his client seemed to have come to the realisation that things had to change.

“She has realised she is a binge drinker who doesn’t know when to stop,” said Mr Nightingale.

“She has now signed on with Inspire and has moved back in with her parents. She hasn’t had a drink since the end of March.”
