A SHOP worker who used to have a chippy tea or pizza every day and would drink at least 12 pints on a night out – has shed 17 stone in a year.

Craig Moody weighed a staggering 33 stone at his peak and could only fit into UK size 6XL shirts.

The 42-year-old binged on large chippy teas and would slurp more than 24 alcoholic drinks at weekends.

Mr Moody, who works at The Range in Blackburn, said his chaotic lifestyle came grinding to a halt when he ended up in hospital for several weeks.

He was told by nurses this was his last chance to change his lifestyle.

He turned chips and pizza away and began eating fish, lots of veg, a small healthy breakfast and fruit for snacks.

He works out in his own home gym, exercising on an exercise bike, a treadmill and a rowing machine.

Mr Moody, who lives in Great Harwood but originally from Blackburn, said in 12 months he has trimmed down to 15 stone 13lbs and went from size 58-inch waist to a 36-inch waist.

And he is now able to wear a much slimmer XL sized shirt.

He said: “I feel like a completely different person, I am half the man I was.

“I feel like I’m floating. I used to psych myself up just to go up a set of stairs and even walking would make me out of breath."

Mr Moody said his fast-food binge spiralled out of control and he would ignore warnings from his family and friends.

He said: “I had a food addiction. From 18 to my mid 20s I would drink every Friday and Saturday night and easily have 12 drinks on each night.

“After my mid 20s I slowed down my drinking but carried on eating.

“I would have a chippy tea four times a week including pies, chips, and I would also eat pizzas, lots of bread – everything unhealthy you can think of. My time in hospital was my wake up call and I knew I had to change or I would die.”

He added: “I never used to be able to look at myself in photographs.

“I can go into normal shops in Blackburn town centre to buy clothes.

"I don't have to go to specialist places any more."
