A CAR was left overturned after crashing on a country highway.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the smash involving the silver Ford Fiesta near the Black Bull pub, in Darwen, at around 2pm today.

The driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 20s, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

No one else was reported injured in the crash, on Broken Stone Road, Darwen.

An ambulance spokesman said: "We were called to a collision on Broken Stone Road at 2.02pm.

"Only one car was involved. We sent a rapid response vehicle and ambulance.

"One patient, a woman in her 20s, was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital."

No one has been arrested, a police spokesman said.

A police spokesman added: "We were called to Broken Stone Road, Darwen, at 2.10pm.

"A Ford Fiesta was found overturned on the highway."
