A 16-YEAR-OLD boy was kicked off his moped and attacked by two older youths.

Blackburn magistrates heard the boy was repeatedly kicked before his assailants rode off on his bike.

Jacob James Barton, 19, of Princes Street, Blackburn, was convicted after trial of assaulting the boy and allowing himself to be carried on a vehicle taken without consent.

He was ordered to do 200 hours' unpaid work and pay £200 compensation, £550 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said the victim had pulled up outside a friend's house when he was attacked by Barton and another youth who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The boy was kicked off his bike and then repeatedly kicked about the body by both men.

When he tried to stand up he was kicked down by Barton who then grabbed his helmet and tried to smash his head on the concrete floor.

She said the attackers said something about him owing them money but he didn't know what they were talking about.

The attack only stopped when one of them got on the bike and shouted for Barton to join him.

Mrs Yates said the other boy had been dealt with by the youth court and given a conditional discharge

Waseem Choudhry, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, maintained his claim of not guilty.

"He says he didn't get involved in the attack," said Mr Choudhry.
