Emergency services were called after a van smashed into a stone wall following a crash with another vehicle.

Fire fighters, police and ambulance crews attended the incident at the junction of Bennington Street and Pringle Street just after 6pm on Thursday.

It is believed a Volkswagen Polo had been travelling down Pringle Street before pulling out at the junction and crashing into a Ford Transit Connect.

The Ford has then crashed into the stone wall opposite Pringle Street, causing extensive damage to the front end of the vehicle.

A fire service spokesperson said: "When we arrived the paramedics were tending to the female driver of the Ford Transit.

"The police were also in attendance and were speaking with the male driver of the Polo, who had managed to exit the car himself.

"None of the people in the Polo were badly injured but the female driver was taken to hospital for precautionary checks."

Fire crews were in attendance around 20 minutes and the incident is now under investigation.
