YOUNG chefs from across East Lancs were put through their paces in the regional heats of the Reg Johnson Young Chef Schools Competition.
Held at Blackburn College, dozens of students were tested by designing dishes that celebrated regional ingredients.
Judged by celebrity chefs Nigel Haworth and Paul Heathcote, the competition was created to honour the memory of the late Reg Johnson – a poultry farmer from the county.
The finalists include Nabil Hamza from Blackburn Central High School, Alina Munir and Iqra Nadeem ,Jayden Diale and Scott Daniels from Accrington Academy.
The competition final is scheduled for Wednesday May, 1 at Blackburn College where pupils will be competing to win dinner for six at Michelin-star restaurant Northcote and a cooking demonstration from its executive chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen.
