IF a picture ever told a curious tale, it's this image of geese in the 1930s.
The photo, dug out from the Lancashire Telegraph's archives shows Copster Green, near Blackburn.
It was also unofficially known as 'Goose Muck Hillock' after the farmyard fowl found around the now-vanished pond on the village's common.
Working folk from Blackburn visited the spot for picnics and outings at weekends in the years before the Second World War.
They would trek there from the tram terminus at Wilpshire for a breath of country air and refreshments sold to them by villagers.
