A MAN who assaulted his mum suffered summary justice at the hands of people who lived at the same hostel as him.

Blackburn magistrates heard Luke Jason Faller was attacked and assaulted by fellow residents of the Salvation Army Hostel.

Faller, 29, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to assaulting Maxine Faller.

He was made subject to a community order for six months with 15 days rehabilitation activity requirement and ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said CCTV from the Salvation Army Hostel showed Faller chasing his mum before grabbing her and pushing her over.

"What is accepted is that both the defendant and his mother are alcoholics and had been drinking at the time," said Miss Akhtar.

"The victim was extremely drunk and has not asked for a restraining order."

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said Faller and his mum had both consumed far too much alcohol.

"There is no suggestion there were any injuries and she did not make a complaint," said Mr Taylor.

He said people from the hostel, where Faller was living at the time, became involved and his client was assaulted.

"The problems between my client and his mum are exaggerated by the amount of alcohol they both drink," said Mr Taylor.

"He would be better off not having any contact with his mum but there is a bond between them. The alcohol has, if anything, brought them closer and strengthened the bond."
