A FUNDRAISER which was held to help disadvantaged Muslim children in East Lancashire has been hailed a 'success'.
Hundreds of people travelled to Blackburn's Bangor Street Community Centre, during the hottest Easter on record, for Secret Santa's fun day on Saturday.
Two Shetland ponies, named Tonic and Bullyboy, visited the site while fire crews also attended as they allowed children to test out their equipment, such as water hoses.
Around £1,300 was raised, which will be used to buy presents for disadvantaged Muslim children this Eid, which will be held in June.
Amina Imam Satia, who helped lead on the organising of the event, said “It was a real privilege, and really heart warming to see so many people willing to support our Secret Sheikh event. It really felt like we smashed it.”
Phil Boulding, founder of Secret Santa, said “Having the support of our amazing fire brigade and Foals and horses pony sanctuary to allow our local children to have a fantastic day of fun and laughter."
Anyone wishing to help the Secret Sheikh project by donating so that they can buy presents for delivery to Muslim children this EID can contact Phil Boulding on 07866 566166.
