TWO young boys who have been tirelessly raising money for the East Lancashire Hospice were guests of honour at the official opening of a new burger bar this weekend.

Tom, 10 and Jack Mayoh, nine, cut the ribbon at The Little Crown in Accrington on Saturday, and spent most of the day collecting even more money for the charity.

The Little Crown sits in the car park of The Crown Pub, and landlady Emma Gilmartin said they day was a huge success.

She said: "At present we've estimated that we've raised more than £1,100, but we still have one more collection bucket to count."

The boys started raising money for the Hospice after the death of their mum, Louise, in July last year.

And proud dad, Gareth Mayoh, said: "It was a really great day, the boys had a whale of a time. They did bucket collections and even got to flip some burgers and cook their own burgers and chips.

"The landlady gave them Easter eggs each and tickets for the Accrington Stanley game that afternoon."

So far the boys have raised more than £22,000 for the Hospice.
